Interview: Shadi Halloun (wizims.com)

Shadi Halloun is a known player in the internet marketing world, specializing in viral marketing. Shadi’s been doing internet marketing full time since he was 16 (now 20), despite his young age, he has already driven millions of visitors to his tens websites making thousands of dollars.

Tell us a little background info about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been working in this industry?

My name is Shadi Halloun, I’m Palestinian. I’ve been in this industry for more than 4 years.

What made you to join this industry and leave the offline world?

I’ve never wanted to work for someone. Even though I did sometimes (washing cars), I always knew that sooner or later I’m going to be my own boss. I was introduced to internet marketing by my uncle (Khalil), and I fell in love with it at the first sight.

What are your great accomplishments so far you are proud of ?

Making more than 5k$ in a single day is something I can show off with. However, the things I’m deeply proud of is the change I’ve made with my inner self. I’m now more organized, persistent, passionate and focused, all thanks to entrepreneurship. Because I wanted to succeed so hard, and I knew I couldn’t make it without developing my personality.

What do you think it takes to become a successful affiliate?

As I said earlier, I believe the most important battle you must win is inside of you. Once you are organized, focused, passionate and a better time manager; other external problems will just be temporary till you make it to the big.

At what age you made your first Affiliate Income?

I think it was in my early 16’s. I made like 214$ (can’t remember exactly) in 1 month.

As an Affiliate what are your favorite traffic sources ?
What I specialize in is viral marketing. I’m not specialized in any specific source. But my advice for driving traffic is to always diversify, never put all your eggs in one basket and to always dare to try new stuff. Usually, when you have a new source to drive traffic from (Pinterest for example), it’ll have many users and very few marketers. It’s because we, humans, don’t like change, we always prefer the old safe methods. But when you dare and actually try new stuff, you are some steps ahead of many competitors.

What was your biggest failure which frustrated you?

I don’t count “failures” as failures anymore. The biggest failure is to make an obstacle frustrate then stop you. However, one of the many stuff that I regret was getting easy when things were going good. For example, I had one campaign where I was getting some sweet passive income and instead of working harder, I just checked statistics all day. Then, after few weeks, the campaign died and I left with nothing.

If you have to recommend something to a new Affiliate then what resources you will recommend to him?

Your brain. Don’t buy anything unless you are sure (not tempted) it’ll help.

What do you do when you get tired by working? What are your hobbies or interests ?

When I want to take a rest from working, I usually read a book or just hang out. I love reading about anything that comes to my mind, from economy to history.

What have you been up to recently? What projects are you working on?

Besides WizIMS.com, I’m in a part of a JV. It’s a software that I’m responsible for marketing it. We are working on SEO, social media, and most importantly, boosting it with viral campaigns.

I know you are one of the best viral marketers in the online world, what’s your one tip for someone who want to launch a viral campaign?
Create something that’s really share-worthy, you need to work on emotions. Whether it’s fear, happiness, surprise or sympathy. The harder you shake that feeling, the more likely that the person will share your content.

What was your best viral campaign so far?
I can call it the best, but it was the saddest. From just 50 visitors in the day 1, we had over 5,000 visitors in day 2, over 50,000 in day 3, and 230,000 at the middle of the 4rd day. It’s the saddest because we were banned by our hosting company because of the load on server (Yes I had a shared host).

Thanks a lot Shadi for giving us your precious time and sharing your strategies! I’m sure many people will find it very useful and reap benefits out from it!
~Cheers~

wonderful put up, very informative. I’m wondering why the other specialists of this sector don’t realize this. You must continue your writing. I am confident, you have a huge readers’ base already!
